Carrie Meier, M.S. candidate
Carrie is studying the impediments to behavioral change in boaters and anglers that can minimize the spread of aquatic invasive species, in a project supported by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. She recently completed her bachelor’s degree in our department, and is jumping right into her Master’s program.
Paige Filice, M.S., 2019
Paige’s research focused on aquatic invasive species introductions from the aquarium and water garden hobbies. Specifically, she investigated retailer knowledge, attitudes, and behavior about aquatic invasive species, and developed a new outreach education program, RIPPLE (Reduce Invasive Pet and Plant Escapes), now used across Michigan. Paige now works as a Natural Resources Educator for Michigan State University Extension, where she coordinates both RIPPLE and Clean Boats, Clean Waters, and promotes the wise use, protection, and restoration of Michigan’s freshwater ecosystems.
